Letter from the Principal
Dear Piedmont High School Students and Parents:
I am excited to be part of the Piedmont High School community. PHS offers a challenging academic program, outstanding co-curricular and extracurricular programs, and exciting school-sponsored events throughout the school year. I feel honored to serve as the instructional leader of the school and look forward to working with the PHS community to provide exceptional learning experiences for our students.
Successful organizations require the convergence of three elements; Relationships, Communication, and Shared Identity. My leadership this year will focus on these three elements as they apply to school improvement. Together, we will make a great school even better!
The school community has some important work ahead of us this year. This week PUSD is conducting professional development in the area of tolerance, diversity, and social justice. This professional development will lay the foundation for our work in these areas. The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) will send an accreditation team to visit us. To prepare for the visit, we will continue our work this fall by completing the PHS Self-Study. The Self-Study is a formal review process resulting in a document that describes school organization, curriculum, instruction, assessment and accountability, and school culture and student support. Students and parents play an integral role in the development of the Self-Study process. Additional time this year will be spent on working toward the goals of the Local Control Accountability Plan, a district plan in support of student achievement. You will be learning more about this work throughout the school year.
This year promises to be full of great accomplishments and exciting progress for our students and our school. If you have any questions related to school policy and procedures, schedules, etc., please feel free to contact the main office at (510) 594-2626, check our school website or email me at email@example.com. Thank you for your ongoing support of Piedmont High School. Let’s make this school year the best!
