The participation gap between boys and girls decreased in the 2022-23 school year. Title IX audit findings from 2021-22 revealed a gap of 55 player slots advantaging boys. Actions taken in the 22-23 school year, including adding Girls Beach Volleyball and turning out more girls players in Tennis, Water Polo, Basketball and Track increased the number of girls playing. With increased turn-out the gap identified now is 43 player slots advantaging boys. Piedmont High knew the gap could not be covered in one year, and has plans to add another girls sport in the Fall of 2023 as part of a plan to address Title IX equity.
