At its April 26 meeting, the Piedmont Unified School District (PUSD) Board of Education unanimously approved the appointment of Melissa Daymond as the new Principal of Wildwood Elementary School. She will replace the retiring Carol Cramer effective July 1, 2023.
With 25 years of experience in public education, Daymond comes to PUSD from the Reed Union School District in Tiburon, where she has spent the past seven years as an elementary school teacher, as well as Teachers Union President, Extended School Year Principal, and Grade Level Team Leader. She has also served as a mentor with the Marin County Office of Education and as a member of several district committees. Daymond began her teaching career in 1998 with the Escondido Union School District, where she worked for 17 years as an elementary school teacher. She attended California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo as an undergraduate and earned a Masters Degree in Educational Administration from San Francisco State University in 2021.
“At Wildwood Elementary, I am committed to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment that will encourage every student to reach their full potential and prepare them for a lifetime of success,” Daymond said. “Education is not just about imparting knowledge; it is also about inspiring and empowering students to become the best versions of themselves. I am overwhelmed by the warm welcome I have received and am ready to hit the ground running. I am excited to see what we can achieve together!”
“During the application and interview process, Ms. Daymond stood out as a communicator, collaborator and problem-solver, with the experience and vision to lead Wildwood into its next chapter. I believe she will be a great addition to Wildwood and to PUSD as a whole,” added PUSD Interim Superintendent, Dr. Donald Evans.
Details regarding opportunities for Wildwood students and families to meet Daymond in-person will be announced soon.
