At its September 14th meeting, the Piedmont Unified Board of Education:

Received Presentation on PUSD Attendance ProceduresStudent absences are present in all school districts. The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in school systems needing to adapt their teaching and learning practices in order to engage students that were no longer sitting in traditional classroom settings. PUSD SPED Director, Dr. Douglas Harter, and Instructional Technology Director, Stephanie Griffin, presented on the District’s efforts to reduce absenteeism

Approved the 2021-22 Unaudited Actuals For All The Funds Operated By The District: General Fund; Student Activities; Adult Education; Cafeteria; Deferred Maintenance; Special Reserve/Noda; Building; State School Facilities Fund; Capital Facilities; Bond Interest And Redemption Fund; And Authorize Appropriate Budget Transfers – The 2021-22 Unaudited Actuals compiles all actual fiscal transactions of the Piedmont Unified School District and presents the District’s financial position for the period July 1, 2021, through June 30, 2022. The UA is submitted to ACOE, and through them, to the California Department of Education (CDE). The District’s auditors, Christy White Associates Inc., will audit the UA to prepare the audited financials by December 2022. Approved and Adopted Resolution 05-2022-23 Declaring That The Appropriations In The Budget For 2021-22 And 2022-23 Do Not Exceed The Gann Limit, As Established By Proposition 4 In 1979 – The Gann Limit (named for Paul Gann, the author of Proposition 4 which amended the State Constitution to establish this limit) is intended to constrain the growth in state and local government spending. Education Code Section 42132 requires that on or before September 15 of each year, the governing board of each school district adopt a resolution to identify the estimated appropriations limit for the current fiscal year and the actual appropriations limit for the preceding fiscal year. The resolution must be adopted at a regular or special meeting of the governing board. Read full background & attachment.
