New Director of Facilities for 2015-16

On June 24, 2015, the Piedmont Unified School District announced the appointment of Mr. Peter Palmer as Director of Facilities for PUSD, effective July 1, 2015.  A graduate of Piedmont High School and UC Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science in Conservation and Resource Studies, Mr. Palmer has held a Class B CSLB General Contractors License for over 25 years.  Mr. Palmer served as a Commercial and Construction Project Manager for Vila Construction for over 18 years.

During the PUSD Seismic Safety and Modernization programs, when Vila Construction served as PUSD’s Construction Manager, Mr. Palmer managed construction of the new Havens Elementary School and the seismic, modernization, and fire/life safety improvements to Ellen Driscoll Playhouse, Wildwood and Beach Elementary Schools, Piedmont Middle School, the Piedmont High School’s 30’s Building and Student Center.

Mr. Palmer has also served as the Project Manager for Oliver and Company, where his projects included managing the following projects for Redwood Day School:  design, cost estimation, and value-engineering of a new two-story science building; and school-wide renovation to ensure ADA compliance and fire/life safety compliance.

Most recently, Mr. Palmer served as Production Manager at McCutcheon Construction, where he managed more than 20 field staff and 10 office staff for residential remodeling projects, many of which were in Piedmont.

Mr. Palmer begins on July 1.  His responsibilities include: supervising PUSD’s Maintenance and Operations Staff; preparing and monitoring the annual maintenance budgets; scheduling and use of school facilities by school groups and community organizations; consulting with architects and contractors on design, construction and alteration of school buildings and grounds; and managing the construction, modernization, reconstruction, and relocation of any new and existing District facilities.  Mr. Palmer’s email address is
