New Principal at MHS for 2015-16

On June 10, 2015, the PUSD Board of Education announced the appointment of Mr. Satyendra Shah as Principal of Millennium High School, effective July 1, 2015.
Mr. Shah has served as a teacher at MHS since 2004.  In addition to teaching chemistry, biology and physical science classes, he is an instructional coach and mentor to other educators and the MHS technology coordinator, leading MHS’ implementation of the District’s one-to-one connected learning initiative.   Prior to his work at MHS, Mr. Shah served as an Americorps Teaching Fellow in Oakland schools.

As an instructional coach and mentor, Mr. Shah trains and supports other teachers in alternative education, strategies for differentiated instruction, creation of curriculum that integrates technology, and Common Core curriculum development and implementation.   He has been a leader in District committees such as the Technology Steering Committee

As faculty advisor to the MHS Associated Student Body, Mr. Shah created the MHS leadership course,  guided the student council through the process of creating the first MHS constitution, and oversaw student activities.

Mr. Shah has a Masters degrees in Education and Instructional Technology from San Francisco State University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Integrative Biology from UC Berkeley.

The interview team included representative members from the MHS staff, students, parents, and site principals and district administrators.

During the interview process Mr. Shah expressed that, “effectively supporting students can have an incredibly positive impact on their lives. I will work collaboratively with the Millennium High School community to build on our accomplishments by focusing on support structures for student learning, whole child development and growth for all students.”

Mr. Shah is replacing Ms. Ting Hsu Engelman, who will remain as the PUSD Wellness Center Director.

PUSD is delighted to welcome Mr. Shah to his new role as MHS Principal.
