Vision

Piedmont Unified School District students are compassionate leaders and courageous problem-solvers, ready to take on challenges and make a difference in a complex and interconnected world.

Mission

PUSD provides all students with an excellent education and opportunities for personal growth, delivered by skilled, diverse and well-supported staff in an inclusive and inspiring school community.

Core Values

Our district embraces these core values in educational practice and operational strategy:

 Integrity

We elevate honesty and ethics as the centerpiece of all that we do.

   Academic Excellence

We provide outstanding academic content that paves the way for students to achieve mastery of core academic subjects, literacy in media and technology, and cultural competency in preparation for college, careers, and a future of their own design.

CourageWe promote resilience, diligent work, and taking action - even when doing so may be difficult.

EquityWe foster a welcoming, inclusive and safe environment where individuals are nurtured, where barriers to success are eliminated, and where everyone has the opportunity to collaborate with others and reach their potential free from racism and other forms of inherent bias. We model compassion and respect for other perspectives.

CuriosityWe create opportunities for students to ask questions, identify current and future problems, explore their interests and talents, innovate, and find joy in life-long learning.

Strategic Priorities

Four strategic priorities guide our work:

  3. Lean into a restorative justice culture through aligned and consistent application of RJ practices.
  4. Provide green, open spaces for students and staff to unplug and recharge in a welcoming and natural setting.

Investing in Outstanding Academics

Provide our students with an excellent education and opportunities for personal growth to develop a deep understanding of and skills in the arts, humanities, math, sciences, and technology.

GOALS

  1. Advance coursework and evidence-based instruction that inspires all learners and produces comprehensive student literacy in skills needed for the future.
  2. Ensure classrooms are led by exceptional, diverse teachers.
  3. Augment academic instruction with safety nets that support student learning.

Partnering Beyond the Classroom

GOALS

Harness community resources to expand experiential learning opportunities both inside and outside the classroom resulting in a student-centric experience for all types of learners.

  1. Enhance classroom education through experiential field trips that can supplement and enrich education.

  2. Provide opportunities for robust life skill development through the use of expert speakers and hands-on activities.

  3. Cultivate an understanding of our role beyond Piedmont through meaningful community interactions and service-based learning.

Building for Operational Excellence

GOALS

  1. Develop a sustainable pipeline of diverse teachers.

  2. Revitalize resident enrollment and reduce absenteeism.
