Parents Club
Dear PMS Parents,
My name is Mary Kelly and I will be serving as president of the PMS Parents’ Club this year. On behalf of all the other Parent Club members, I sincerely invite you to get involved as much as your schedule permits, and to keep abreast of what’s happening both at the school in general and in your child’s classroom in particular.
More than anything else, please make time to read the school’s weekly bulletin. We are working hard this year to make it both more complete and easier to read.
Please join the PMS Parents’ Club! Our bait is always the indispensable Student Directory–which only members can receive– but the importance of joining is much more significant than that. In a nutshell, having a large, organized parent community is fundamental to PMS being the finest school it can be. So please join if at all possible. Membership Dues are $60 per year. For membership information, please contact parent Lindsey Meyersieck at 655-0629.
Please try to attend the PMS Parents’ Club Board Meetings. Our board meetings are open to the entire parent community, and provide a quick, efficient way to hear from the school administrators as well as other parents who oversee various key volunteer functions. They are meant to be fun, socially interesting, and informative in truly a unique way. Meetings will be held this year at 8:30 on the following dates: September 9, October 14, December 9, January 13, February 10, April 6, May 11, and June 8. Evening meetings will be held at 7:00pm on November 3 and March 8.
Try to volunteer. Here is our promise: if you volunteer, you will get vastly more payback than the effort you put in. First, you will meet really nice parents who you wouldn’t have opportunity to know otherwise. More importantly, you will develop insight and instincts about the school that will help you advocate for your child and better parent him/her through this very exciting period in his/her life. Here are some suggestions:
- Work at walk-through registration,
- Be a room parent,
- Help with the Giving Campaign,
- Help with the Magazine Sale,
- Work in the library,
- Join the PMS Volunteer Pool
- Volunteer at food service,
- Chaperone field trips and dances,
- Help with fund-raising,
- Attend SITE Council meetings,
- Help with Teacher Appreciation Day,
- Help with Diversity Day in early May
Please email me with any questions, concerns, complaints, compliments, etc! Please send any and all feedback. We need your two cents to make PMS the best it can be!
All the best to you and your child,
Mary Kelly
President, PMS Parents’ Club
