On Tuesday, December 8, the Sixth Grade Orchestra, Seventh and Eighth Grade Orchestra, and High School Orchestra presented a very successful concert in the Alan Harvey Theater. They performed works by living composers as well as famous composers ranging from the Baroque through the Romantic periods. Works by Rimsky-Korsakov, Handel, Mozart and Vaughn-Williams were featured.
The contemporary work by Richard Meyer was inspired by Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream and was introduced by a poem read by high school student Keith Sibal. The concert was well attended by a very appreciative audience. Students remained for the concert to hear each other perform. At the elementary level, fifth grade instrumental music and vocal music students have been performing short pieces from memory, showcasing their progress from the start of the school year.
