“I can’t wait to implement.”
“This was the best professional development day I’ve ever attended!”
Middle and high school English and Social Studies teachers had high marks for the training they received on October 12th’s professional development day. The topic was timely and focused on their subject matter- exploring strategies for implementing online writing in a 1:1 secondary classroom. Delivered by trainers from the Bay Area Writer’s Project, the hands-on day provided teachers with ideas that could be implemented immediately in our Chromebook classrooms. PHS teacher Courtney Goen used a “Stakeholders Web and Dialogue” activity the very next class on Tuesday! Her students brainstormed and wrote together (collaborative writing assignment in Docs) on the topic of homework. The activity supported critical thinking, argumentation skills and Common Core standards in a collaborative, engaging manner with a mix of analog and digital activities.
