Elementary Family Math Festivals

Family Math Night 5Come join us for some family math fun!  Wildwood hosted the first of the elementary family math festivals on October 14th, and it was a HUGE HIT!  The Wildwood Auditorium was packed with students in kindergarten through fifth-grade, along with their parents and siblings.  The math theme of the night was Number Sense, and students engaged in over a dozen math activities that supported their understanding of number relationships.  The doors opened at 6:30 and when the event ended at 8:00 there were still many families engaged in math activity! Family Math Night 3Family Math Nights provide an opportunity for our elementary students to learn about key mathematical concepts in an exploratory and hands-on atmosphere. At each festival there will be 12 to 18 different problem-solving activity stations, each focusing on one or more key math concepts from the California Common Core Mathematics Standards. The stations at each festival will focus on a different area of math–number sense, geometry, algebra–with 12 to 16 different problem tasks to meet all students’ abilities and skills–kindergarten through 5th grade.  Please join us at one or more of the school sites for an evening of mathematical magic!
