PUSD and Frank C. Havens Elementary School

Our Mission

Piedmont Unified, an exemplary school district committed to public education, is dedicated to developing independent learners who are responsible, competent, and intellectually curious with a strong sense of self and community.  Through quality instruction and shared leadership, the District will impart knowledge and promote creative and critical thinking in a safe, nurturing, and challenging environment.

Frank C. Havens Elementary School

The Havens School community believes that every child should be challenged to grow academically and socially.  The learning community fosters the development of healthy self-esteem, an appreciation for the rights, gifts, and talents of their fellow students, and an appreciation for the diversity of the world around us.

During the 2009-2010 school year, the Havens School campus in Piedmont was completely rebuilt.  The educational programs at the school are tailored to be both relevant and challenging.  Havens School is dedicated to ensuring the academic success of every student and provides a safe and comprehensive educational experience for all children.

With approximately 450 students and 35 teachers, Havens has a high academic performance record.  The 2011 API was 952, meeting all of its growth targets and APR criteria.  Professional development is a priority in Piedmont Unified with a recent focus on differentiation and common assessment.

The Havens School community is located in Piedmont, a city of about 10,000 residents nestled in the hills above the San Francisco Bay Area.  The residents of Piedmont demonstrate a strong sense of community and are committed to maintaining and enhancing educational programs, services, and school facilities.  Parent participation in school activities is extensive; parents and community members have developed a variety of support organizations that work collaboratively with staff to support the needs of the school system.
