In January, the Governor’s budget is announced. Between January and April, district staff reviews key variables such as enrollment, the state’s cost of living allowance, staffing ratios and program needs to determine the appropriate levels of service to provide to the expected student population. Between May and mid-June, there is a high volume of information interchange between the District and the State. June 30 is the Constitutional deadline for the Governor to sign the Budget Bill. By July 1, the District holds a public hearing, adopts a budget, and files the budget with the County Superintendent.
