Special Education
Special Education Services provide individualized, educational intervention to students based on a team evaluation of a student’s specific needs where students are assessed and screened to confirm eligibility. The Special Education Team meets with parents, and with their approval an Individual Education Plan (IEP) is developed using some or all of the following programs or resources: Resource Specialist Program, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, adapted physical education and Hearing-Impaired Therapy. Approximately 14 percent of the student population receive some form of special education services.
Section 504 Services provide individualized, educational accommodations to students based on an assessment and evaluation conducted by the Student Study Team. A plan is developed by the team working with parents, and reviewed annually. Any student who meets the federal eligibility criteria receives services in the Section 504 program.
