At its November 10th meeting, the Piedmont Unified Board of Education:

Approved the Single Plans for Student Achievement – Beach, Havens and Wildwood Elementary Schools – The California Education Code requires the school site council to develop a School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). The purpose of the SPSA is to create a cycle of continuous improvement of student performance and to ensure that all students succeed in reaching academic standards set by the State Board of Education. The School Plan for Student Achievement is developed with the input of all Site Council stakeholders and reflects the current educational needs of students. The elementary schools, in their continued effort to develop a tri-school collaborative approach, have joined their site councils to develop a unified, Tri-school School Plan for Student Achievement. All goals for the 2021-22 school year are in line with the District’s Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP). Read full background here. See presentation here.  

Approved 2022-23 and 2023-24 Instructional Calendars – Instructional Calendars are negotiated every two years between the school district and the Association of Piedmont Teachers. A Calendar Committee was formed to develop a number of calendar options including different variables. The proposed calendars received over 88% approval by APT members. Read full background here

Approved Memorandum of Understanding Between the California School Employees Association (CSEA) and Piedmont Unified School District Regarding The Juneteenth Holiday – The District will recognize June 19th as a holiday for all CSEA employees. The date will be added to the proposed Work Calendar for negotiations beginning in January/February 2022.

Approved First Reading – Educator Effectiveness Block Grant – The Educator Effectiveness Block Grant is state funding provided for school districts to be used for professional learning for teachers, administrators, paraprofessionals that work with pupils, and classified staff that interact with pupils. The District will receive $700,000 to be spent over a four-year period. Read full background here. See full presentation here

Received Local Control Accountability (Strategic Plan) Progress Update #2 – The Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) is a three-year plan that describes the goals, actions, services, and expenditures that public schools in California plan to use to support positive student outcomes that address state and local priorities. The LCAP provides an opportunity for local educational agencies (LEAs) like Piedmont Unified School District (PUSD) to share their stories of how, what, and why programs and services are selected to meet their local needs.
