A small elementary school located in Piedmont, California, USA, we are part of the Piedmont Unified School District. Message from Julie Valdez, Principal Beach Elementary School is a community of young learners, experienced educators and supportive parents. Our school strives to provide a stimulating and challenging environment, nurturing a variety of learning styles and interests. STAR scores and Academic Performance Index rank us among the top schools in the state. API for 2006 is 961. API for 2007 comes out in September. For the school year 2007-08, we have 285 students, class size reduction in all classes K-3, 24 students in grade 4 and 5. Our librarian, physical education teacher, readiing, vocal and instrumental music specialists meet with students each week. Funding from Beach Parent Organization provides a technology teacher and enrichment programs in art, math, and science. After-school, fee-based classes in art, science, drama, dance, chess, cooking, technology and Spanish are sponsored by the Beach Parent Organization. On-site childcare is available in Schoolmates, a program run by the Piedmont Recreation Department. This year our school district and community are working together to emphasize the importance of respect within the schools, community and world. Promote Respect is our motto! Staff, students and parents will be working together to raise awareness and model respectful behaviors. We do not schedule individual visits to classrooms, but visitors to the school are welcome.
